How the conversion works

Divide the minutes by 60. 20 minutes is 20 / 60 = 0.333, usually written 0.33. To go the other way, multiply the decimal part by 60: 0.25 x 60 = 15 minutes.

Example: clocked 38 hours 20 minutes for the week at $18 an hour. 20 minutes is 0.33 hours, so you worked 38.33 hours. Exactly, 38 hours 20 minutes at $18 is $690.00. Using the rounded 38.33 gives $689.94, so keep the minutes exact when you can.
